Residential Programs for Veterans

Residential Programs for Veterans

Volunteers of America has been helping veterans from as far back as the Civil War who are struggling to reintegrate into civilian life. The Greater New York affiliate supports more than 700 veterans each year, and is one of the largest providers of residential services for veterans in New York City. We offer a continuum of care to veterans who are homeless and those at imminent risk of becoming homeless that is congruent with the high level of support and respect these men and women deserve.

Commonwealth Residence is a 149-unit single room occupancy (SRO) residence that provides permanent, supportive housing to formerly homeless single men and women, including those diagnosed with a mental illness. Many are veterans. The residence provides safe, comfortable, low-cost housing and comprehensive on-site services. For information, call (347) 640-5068.
